Lundy trip

Getting kit across to the boat. The camping and diving expedition to Lundy was cut short due to bad weather, but at least some diving was possible and the social aspect of camping together meant everyone had a good time nonetheless.

Unable to attempt a crossing to Lundy on the Friday, the club camped on the hillside above the lovely coastal retreat of Clovelly and soon found a nice pub for the evening and hoped to try again in the morning.

Getting up early on Saturday for another go at the crossing meant meeting Lundy Murrelet in the morning at low water and rowing the camping gear across to the boat! However, on reaching Lundy the choppy seas around the jetty and the forecast of worse to come prevented disembarking on the island and no prospect of diving in the vicinity.

This forced a retreat back to Clovelly and meant that diving was only possible on the Saturday close to the north Devon coast. Although visibility was extremely poor underwater there was lots of life below just about every rock and bolder you cared to look under, but unfortunately we were unable to see any of the seals and other marine life that make Lundy a special place to dive.
